WALTCO PRESIDENT ROD ROBINSON ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
(TALLMADGE, Ohio, February 17, 2009) Today Waltco Hydraulic Liftgates President Rod Robinson announced his retirement from the liftgate and hydraulic cylinder manufacturer, effective March 6. His successor is Michael Militello, president of Ultron, a liftgate manufacturer also owned by Waltco’s parent company, Hiab.
Robinson’s career with Waltco spans 37 years, including 22 years as president. He began as a sales representative, advancing to various sales positions until he became vice president of Sales and Eastern Operations. He was named president in 1986.
“During my tenure as president, Waltco experienced annualized double-digit growth,” said Robinson. “We also saw our workforce more than quadruple.”
An industry leader, Robinson was president of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), from 2004 to 2005, and served on the NTEA board from 1999 to 2005. He was also a member of the Young Presidents Organization, a national group of company presidents under age 40.
In addition, he chaired the Akron Labor and Management Prayer Breakfast, which provided an opportunity to strengthen labor and management relationships, and earned Robinson special recognition.
Throughout his career, he has remained active in many other community and charitable organizations. He plans to increase his involvement in these organizations during his retirement.
A native of northeast Ohio, Robinson resides in North Canton, Ohio, with Linda, his wife of 39 years. They have three children and six grandchildren.
